A Japanese vintage handmade pottery medium plate.
Possibly from the late Showa period.
A very pale blue-grey glaze is applied over a white clay body.
Fine iron specks and crackle can be seen, giving each piece its own firing character.
Around the rim, a floral motif is hand-painted with soft brushwork.
The gentle brushstrokes give the decoration a rich, expressive quality.
Each piece differs slightly in its motif, glaze, and form.
Some have a slightly raised rim, while one is almost flat. Two pieces bear a kiln mark on the underside, while one does not.
There are three pieces available. Please feel free to contact us if you have a preference.
Size:
Approx. Φ20 × H2.5cm
Condition:
Crackle, glaze unevenness, iron specks, kiln marks, and individual variations are present, but they do not affect use. Please enjoy the quiet charm of a piece that has gently aged over time.
