Hand Fan – Kuba Leaf, Okinawa

A handmade fan woven from kuba (livistona) leaves native to Okinawa.

Kuba leaves have long been used for roofing, walls, fans, and packaging, supporting everyday life in the region.

In the hand, it reveals the texture of natural material and the strength of traditional craftsmanship.

Today, fewer artisans continue making kuba crafts, and this tradition from Yonaguni is gradually fading.

This fan carries a part of that cultural heritage into the present.
