Ofuke ware was once created as refined gifts and treasured pieces for feudal lords. This small plate was made at Kita Kiln Kassan, a pottery in Seto’s Akazu district with a history spanning over 370 years.
Each piece is carefully shaped on the potter’s wheel, then covered with a soft bluish glaze known as Ofuke-yu. The rim is decorated with gentle shinogi (carved ridges), which catch the light and reveal shifting shades of glaze—like looking into a quiet, miniature landscape.
With its subtle transparency and hand-crafted warmth, this small plate adds a sense of calm elegance to the everyday table.
