A Japanese vintage pottery tea cup from Narui Kiln, Mashiko ware.
Its rounded body and boldly flared foot create a distinctive silhouette. Though slightly unconventional in shape, it feels surprisingly well balanced and has a memorable presence.
The marks of the wheel and the maker’s hand remain visible throughout, giving the piece a quiet sense of individuality. Small in size, yet substantial in the hand.
Narui Kiln is located in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture. Established in 1970, the kiln continues to fire its work in a traditional climbing kiln.
