Vintage Teacup – Hagi Ware, Tsubaki Kiln

A vintage Japanese teacup from Tsubaki Kiln (Tenpōzan) in Hagi.

Its soft ivory glaze is covered with delicate crazing (kannyū), a characteristic feature of Hagi ware that develops beautifully over time.

The gently rounded form and softly flared rim sit comfortably in the hand, giving the cup a quiet, understated presence.

One of the pleasures of Hagi ware is watching the vessel gradually mature through everyday use.

Each cup has slight variations in the glaze and crazing pattern.
